Everything you need to know for your first session

Entering into a therapeutic relationship can be a daunting task. You're meeting a new person, a total stranger. You will be sharing intimate details of your life with me. It's ok to be nervous and completely normal.

Once we have organised a time and date for your introductory session, I will send you an information pdf with all the details you will need to find us at the practice rooms in the location you've requested. There will be a calm and peaceful waiting room ready for your arrival.

Introductory sessions take 30 minutes. I'll collect you from the waiting area or room (depending on where I'm seeing you from) and we'll gently navigate your reasons for wanting to seek support and perhaps any goals you might have. I'll ask a little about your support network and what it is you might need from me. It can be helpful to make some notes prior to our meeting incase your nerves creep in and your brain goes blank.

When the session ends, you can decide whether you would like to go straight ahead and book a regular slot with me, or take some time to have a think through whether I am the right fit for your needs.

Please note, my friendly dog, Salty, joins me at the practice most days. He's a great listener and always offers a warm welcome!
